The surface beside her is raw and scraped and beautiful in the way that broken things sometimes are, all that pink and silver chaos catching light it was never meant to catch. Her hands hold on. Her cheek presses close. Her eyes look sideways at something she isn't ready to meet directly.

This is a painting about the hard places inside relationships. Not the endings, not the beginnings, but the difficult middle where you stay because leaving is unthinkable and staying costs you something you can't quite name. She is pale as a ghost, as a bride, as a woman who has made herself very still in order to survive something.

I didn't want to tell you what she's feeling. I wanted to leave room for you to find yourself in her.
